Who is this gal?
Hi, nice to meet you – I'm Ms. Bayer, a 7th and 8th grade math teacher.
Math goes beyond memorizing formulas and following rigid steps. Instead, knowing that every student can learn math, it is crucial to help students develop a conceptual understanding of mathematics.
What I believe in
run a structured, student-centered classroom that promotes positive learning experiences for all students. I have high expectations for every student, and I firmly believe that every student is capable of succeeding in math to the highest level.
IN THE CLASSROOM
HOW MATH IS TAUGHT
Not only is math used everywhere and everyday, but also math is a tool we use to learn how to communicate, collaborate, think critically, and problem solve. I hope that students can learn these skills in an enjoyable, memorable way! . My approach goes beyond rote memorization of formulas and following rigid steps. Instead, I aim to guide students to independently tackle problems and guide group discussions to highlight successful strategies. As a facilitator in my students’ learning, I actively engage students in mathematics through the integration of technology and real-world applications while maintaining high expectations for every student.
GROWTH MINDSET
The brain is like a muscle that can be exercised and strengthened; thus, it is my intention to help students exercise their brain daily.
